Ok, so obviously, this is not a current working artist, but his work is still loved around the world almost 100 years after the art nouveau movement. I adore Alphonse Mucha and the art nouveau period as a whole. I love the curls, the thick and thin lines, the beautiful figures, the framework and design, the architecture, stained glass, etc.
Alphonse Mucha is often referred to as the father of art nouveau. His work is easily the most well known, along side Gustav Klimt. His work was featured on advertisements (along with many other artists of this period) for companies like Job (a cigarette company) and for various products, calendars, and even just fine art for home.
He continues to inspire artists to this day, and is also a very strong influence in a lot of art by anime and manga artists as well. He also inspires my work.
For those of you who are not familiar with his work, GET FAMILIAR. I promise you will fall in love.
